COME BUILD WITH US!

With minimum staff, Comal County Habitat for Humanity depends on volunteers for support with projects like home builds and repairs, but that’s not all! If you’re looking for something less strenuous, our Habitat ReStore is a volunteer-supported appliance, furniture, and building material resale center.

We want “YOU” “YOUR COMPANY” or “COMMUNITY GROUP” to join us on the Construction Site or at our ReStore where we work to build decent affordable homes.

If you have a group of 5 or more that is interested in Group Volunteer Opportunity, please fill out the Interest Form below.

  • Bring a clearly marked (with a name) WATER BOTTLE for each person. We have water on site to refill your personal water bottle.
  • Each individual is responsible for their own lunch.  Each individual should keep any foods to the desired temperature by bringing a cooler or warmer.

We will provide all tools needed for the job assignment. Habitat for Humanity tools, aprons, and any other loaned items will need to be returned by the end of the workday. If anyone in the group has work gloves or personal tools they would like to bring, they are welcome to do so. Please be sure all personal items are marked clearly with names. Any unmarked tools at the end of the day will be assumed to be Habitat for Humanity’s.

Please call Volunteer Coordinator at (830) 625-4025 or email volunteer@comalhabitat.org and we will assist you.

To ensure a quality experience for our volunteers and for safety reasons, we have a maximum number of volunteers allowed on each build site. We will do our best to keep your group as close as possible.

Work will continue on site unless determined otherwise by staff. It is very rare that a work day is cancelled – most days we relocate to our construction warehouse. If a work day is cancelled, it will be announced the morning of the volunteer date at the home build site.

No.  All we ask is that you bring a willingness to learn and a desire to assist us in achieving our mission of building affordable housing. We will train you on the home build site.

Street parking will be available however, parking is NOT permitted in front of the build site. Please do not block driveways or mail boxes. Carpooling is encouraged.  When bringing valuables, please leave them locked away in your vehicle for the duration of your volunteer day. There is no on-site storage for personal items.

Please do not use the ReStore Parking Lot, we would like to reserve those spots for ReStore customers. Parking Option 1. Park on the Northeast side of the Industrial Drive. Habitat Staff will be waiting in front of the ReStore to greet you. Parking Option 2. Warehouse parking is located in the rear of Habitat for Humanity business site. To access from Industrial Drive, turn into the parking lot before/after you get to Habitat for Humanity, depending upon which direction you are traveling. The building number is 1265. Continue straight back through the open gates. Please be advised that this is a construction site, so it is a gravel road and there could be nails, and others items found at a construction site present. Carpooling is encouraged.
